What Happens To Animals Turned In
to Animal Control
Animals who are turned in or captured by
animal control will be taken to the pound.
If they have a micro chip, city tag or
rabies identification tag the owner will be
notified. If the owner is unknown, the
animal will be held for 3 *business days,
giving the owner time to check in and see
if their dog was turned in. It will be
advertised on radio, in print and on social
media that an animal has been turned in
with a description of or photo of said
animal for the three days it will be held.
If no one comes forward to claim the
animal it becomes the property of the
pound where it will be put up for
adoption if it is a suitable candidate for
adoption.
Animals found running at large and
impounded will be charged a pound fee
for the return of their animal.
(*a business day is any day of the year
that is not a holiday or the weekend.
Example 3 business days from Friday
would be Friday, Monday and Tuesday.)
